Our Mission

Therix Medical, Inc., based in Lexington, KY, was founded in December 2007 to capitalize on the untapped opportunity to commercialize product concepts from clinicians at the University of Kentucky (UK) and other regional medical centers.

Its initial focus is on ‘mining’ new medical device and diagnostic ideas from the hundreds of doctors, nurses and technicians at UK.  Through their clinical duties, clinicians have first hand experience with current medical devices and procedures.  They often see ways to make incremental improvements to current products or have entirely new ideas on ways to solve the problems they experience in treating their patients.  Yet, in most cases, they usually do not have the time, the resources, or the funding to pursue commercialization of their ideas.  As a result, many of these ideas are never pursued or are given away in casual conversations to large industry players.
